CHS to Host Wrestling Triangular
For the first time in over 30 years, the Cassville R-IV School District now offers wrestling to high school athletes as a school sanctioned sport. While the team has spent the season competing in matches and tournaments across the region, the Cassville High School (CHS) wrestling program will host their first triangular on Monday, February 8 at 6 p.m. in the CHS gymnasium.
“We haven’t had a wrestling team in 36 years! According to our records, the last wrestling team at Cassville Schools was in 1979-1980. We are excited to have this sport reinstated at Cassville and have been very pleased with our community support and the enthusiasm from our student athletes and coaches” said Doug Martin, Cassville Schools Activities Director.
Brian Barbee serves as the head wrestling coach. He is assisted by Ethan Davis and Chad Butler.
“I am proud of our wrestling team for their hard work,” said Barbee. “Wrestling is a grueling sport and to make it through the season is a testament to their commitment to become better wrestlers and to building this program for the future. I hope people will come to our home match and show their support for them and Cassville wrestling.”
The Cassville Triangular will be a competition between CHS, Berryville High School and Diamond High School.
“We encourage everyone to attend our home triangular and support our wrestlers. They have worked hard this season and it will be exciting to see them at home competing in front of their home crowd. We hope our community will come show their support to these athletes,” stated Martin.
