CHS Junior Selected for MO Fine Arts Academy
Sierra Lacy, Junior at Cassville High School, has been accepted into the Missouri Fine Arts Academy. Lacy will attend the academy this summer on the campus of Missouri State University in Springfield.
The Missouri Fine Arts Academy (MFAA) is a three-week summer residential program for highly motivated student artists in visual arts, theatre, dance, creative writing and music.
The Academy offers an intensive schedule of classes in interdisciplinary and discipline-specific arts, and a wide range of co-curricular activities. MFAA is conducted with the support and cooperation of Missouri State University, and is funded through program fees, grants, endowments, scholarships, and private donations.
"Sierra shows such promise as an artist with a voice," said Teall Williams, CHS Art Teacher. "She is empathetic of her fellow humans and visionary in her art with a great supporting work ethic.”
Students who attend MFAA are automatically enrolled in IDS101/Interdisciplinary Seminar at Missouri State University at no additional cost, and receive three hours college credit upon successful completion of the MFAA program. This credit is generally transferable to any college or university program.
“It has been a pleasure to see Sierra grow as an artist this year,” said Williams. “I could not be more proud that she has been chosen for the honor of MFAA at Missouri State University for 2017!"
