The Process

Step 1: Decide what famous Missourian each person in your group will research. There is a list of famous Missourians at each of the following websites. Read about a few of these famous Missourians, then decide who you will research. Each person in your group must choose a different famous Missourian.

Missouri House of Representatives, Hall of Famous Missourians - Click on "Famous Missourians" on the left-hand column to see a list of famous Missourians. Click on a person's name to read more information about that person.

The State Historical Society of Missouri - Click on an occupation of interest. There you will find famous Missourians with this occupation and more information about them.

Step 2: Do research on your famous Missourian. Below is a link to a list of sites you can access to find more information. You may also use the books from the library or your textbook for additional information. Print out and use the Famous Missourian Research Sheet to guide you in finding your information. Feel free to use the above sites as well for more information about your famous Missourian.

Step 4: Create a multimedia presentation about your group's famous Missourian. (The person you decided in your group who made the greatest contribution to Missouri history.)

  • Be sure to include who your famous Missourian is and why your group believes he or she contributed the most to Missouri history.
  • Use previous websites to find pictures for your famous Missourian. Put your pictures in a shared folder, and make a word document with the website locations listed.
  • Print off and fill out the storyboard sheet to record what you will say with each picture.
  • Remember, each person has to say something in the movie.
  • Practice your script before you record to make sure your timing is correct.
  • Save your movie to the shared folder.

Step 5: View your fellow classmates' movies from the shared folder. Fill out a Famous Missourian Checklist for each group's presentation. At the bottom of the sheet, include one thing you liked about their movie.
