Cassville FFA plans Annual Food Drive
The Cassville FFA Chapter is planning its annual food drive this holiday season, and we are asking for the help and support of our community. In this time of hardships, basic luxuries that many of us take for granted are not accessible for many local families. Now more than ever, the need for food in our community is prevalent and very real.
This year has been incredibly difficult for everyone and disaster seems to be the social norm at this point. With lay-offs, business closings, and unemployment rates skyrocketing to unprecedented levels, many people are left without pay and food security.
The Cassville Community Food Pantry and the Cassville FFA are teaming up and asking the Barry County community to come together to help those who are less fortunate in these difficult times by donating to this year's food drive.
The Cassville pantry distributes to nearly 1,500 people on average each month, giving help to all who need it, no matter the situation. With this year's pandemic, many have been left unemployed and need services that they have never had to use before, causing a jump in the need for food.
To combat that, we have put together this food drive, asking for donations of canned foods, dry goods, and non-perishable food items (rice, dried food, etc.) from the community. Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated and accepted, as it allows the pantry to buy the goods they need as they need them. $1 can feed up to 4 people, so every donation counts!
Monetary donations can be mailed directly to the Cassville Community Food Pantry. The drive starts on November 30th and continues until December 18th, but the food pantry takes donations at all times of the year at 800 West 10th St. Cassville, MO 65625 and is open Monday-Thursday from 9am-11.15 am and is closed Friday-Sunday, holidays, and the 4th Tuesday of the month.
You can contact the pantry at (417)-846-7871 with questions on their work and visit their website at https://www.cassvillepantry.com/ . Drop off locations for this year's food drive are at the Cassville High School, Whitley’s Pharmacy, the Family Life Center, King Saver, The Courthouse, At the Consignment and Tractor Supply in Cassville.
